Best in division award for NYS grounds team

Pitch perfect: The AESSEAL New York Stadium is one of the host venues for the Euro U17s finals.

They beat off competition from Blackburn Rovers and MK Dons, both of whom received special commendations for their pitches, to land the Sky Bet League One Grounds Team of the Year award for the 2017/18 season.

The playing surface at the AESSEAL New York Stadium has long been recognised as one of the best around and Dave Fellowes and his team won the same award in the Championship three years ago. They were also “highly-commended” for League One in 2013/14 and in League Two the year before.

Player Facilities Manager Dave said: “We’re thrilled to once again be recognised.

“A lot of hard work has once again gone into maintaining the pitch and I would like to give a special mention to Dave Burton and Mykel Parkin for all of their efforts this season.

“We have had to battle the elements with a lot of rain since the turn of the year and even some snow, but we’re really pleased with how the pitch is looking as we gear up for the play-offs and upcoming U17 European Championships.”
