80 mark is a motivation for Millers

Determined...Paul Warne wants no let-up in the quest for points

At the moment they're are only four shy of that total and could surpass it with good results against Plymouth tomorrow and their regular-season finale at home to Blackpool next Saturday.

Whether they make it or not, Warne said his team had already surpassed its target for the season.

He told the Advertiser: "When we were in Austria for pre-season training last summer, we set out with the lads to get an average of 1.6 points per game. That worked out at around 72 or 73 points, which for the last few years been enough to get in the play-offs.

"If we can get to 80 then it would be brilliant but even now, when I look at the league table, I still think about the two points we dropped at home to Peterborough and things like that. I always think things could have been better but in fairness, Bristol Rovers could have scored against on the break on Saturday and it could have finished 1-1 and we'd have dropped two then, so I don't want to be greedy.

"Overall the lads have deserved to finish top six."

With a League One play-off place already secure, Warne has considered resting players this weekend to make sure they are fit for the end-of-season deciders.

But he still hasn’t ruled out starting with his strongest side and making his substitutions earlier.

Whatever he decides, he’s braced for an assault-out assault from a Plymouth team who need a win to get in the play-off frame with games running out.

He added: "I went to see them at Rochdale the other night and they played a really attacking formation. They'll set up aggressively again because they want to win.

“We’ve set a standard here and I want the lads to keep it up in these last two games rather than just cruise them.”

Apart from long-term absentees Jamie Proctor and Darren Potter, there are no fresh injury concerns.
