Victorious Adam defied medics

TALENTED pole vaulter Adam Hague defied medics to claim his first major title of the year.

The Wingfield teenager claimed the Northern Indoor U17 Championships at the Institute of Sport, despite having broken an ankle in training in September.

He had to have pins inserted to help the break heal and doctors said he would not be able to vault for a least four months.

But he was back in action prior to Christmas and at the Insitute at the weekend vaulted a season's best of 4.60m which again is a great achievement given his serious injury.
