Tough weekend for Jake

CAR racer Jake Cook endured a challenging weekend in North Yorkshire in his latest outing.

Competing in the latest round of the Protyre Formula Renault Championship at Croft, the youngster from Treeton managed three top-six finishes.

After a successful test session on Friday, his good start in the first race was halted by the early release of the safety car, meaning he dropped a place and eventually had to settle for fourth.

A second qualifying session on Saturday left Jake 11th on the grid but after struggling on older tyres for the duration he came in fifth.

The third race proved eventful as carnage struck the final race for the single-seater series.

Despite once again struggling with his set-up on old tyres, Jake managed to benefit from the errors of his rivals and retirements to finish sixth, collecting more important points towards his title charge.
