Top coach joins Titans' team

TITANS have been given a pre-season boost by recruiting one of the top scrum coaches in the game to polish up their game.

Geordie tough-nut Micky Ward, who piloted Blaydon to the brink of the Championship last term and will also be working with the front three at Premiership Newcastle Falcons, is to join the Clifton Lane coaching team on a consultancy basis.

The 34-year-old, linked with the vacant job at Rotherham before Lee Blackett was appointed, will work at the Lane on a one day per week basis – similar to his agreement with the newly-promoted Falcons – and Blackett is delighted at the prospect. The former Falcons’ tight head will hold his first session on Monday.
