Titans topple Yorkshire rivals

COACH Andre Bester paid tribute to his forwards as Titans clung on to defeat old foes Leeds at Clifton Lane yesterday and chalk up a first win of the season in the Championship.

Leading 19-3 at half time thanks to a converted try from Robin Copeland and four penalties from Garry Law, Rotherham had to withstand severe pressure in the face of a strong wind in the second half, eventually winning 22-18.

Bester said: "I have to take my hat off to the pack because they fought hard against a team which will go on and do well this season.

"We still have a lot to work on, especially our discipline, because penalties caused us so many problems in the second half, especially with the wind in Leeds' favour."

Titans make the long trip to Plymouth Albion on Friday.
