Titans slaughtered by Pirates

TITANS this morning began the task of picking up the pieces following Sunday's teleivised debacle at Cornish Pirates, when the Penzance side romped home 67-15 in the Championship promotion play-offs.

Andre Bester's side shipped ten tries - six coming is a disastrous first period - although Louis McGowan did scored twice after the break to give the scoreline a semblance of respectability.

Titans paid the price for fielding an inexperienced pack with Bester giving players run-outs in unfamiliar positions with Jon Aikman starting as hooker, Ryan Burrows playing in the second rown and Dan Baines going to no.8.

The bad news for Rotherham is that they have now lost their first three play-off games to sit bottom of Pool B - and face the Pirates at Clifton Lane this Saturday.
