Titans miss out on Prescott

FRUSTRATED Titans have been hit by an about-turn from prop Ben Prescott.

The 32-year-old last week agreed a deal to return to Clifton Lane but at the weekend pulled the plug on the deal to instead join Premiership Northampton.

But head coach Andre Bester says the hunt will go on for more front row power as the Clifton Lane club look to beef up their squad ahead of three vital games.

Said Bester: “We had done a deal and Ben was looking forwward to coming back here but then Northampton offered him a deal.

“He took it and while we are disappointed, it’s not the end of the world.

“We will keep looking and we have people out there searching for the right man. We won’t make any signings until we get the right man.”

With Rob O’Donnell expected back in full training early in the New Year, Prescott’s acquisition would have pumped up Rotherham’s front row strength with just two months to go before the play-offs.

Before then, Bester’s side have three vital games starting, weather permitting, on Sunday at Birmingham Solihull.

It will be Titans’ first visit to Birmingham’s Damson Park ground, although there is aleady a doubt over the game with the pitch under snow.
