Titans chief's future in doubt

ANDRE Bester will next week lose his job at Rotherham Titans.

That’s unless a last-gasp attempt to heal a rift between the colourful coach and the Clifton Lane board can be healed.

Bester will meet Lane directors Nick Cragg and Martin Jenkinson, the men who brought him back to the club in a blaze of publicity 30 months ago, on Monday at a disciplinary hearing.

It follows three months of burgeoning in-fighting, stemming from a verbal clash between Bester and an assistant coach, which has been allowed to spiral out of control.

Bester was last week called to an intial hearing at the club where six charges were tabled.

That meeting was adjourned pending further investigation and is scheduled to be reconvened on Monday when he could be exonerated, be given a warning or have his contract terminated.

Neither party would comment yesterday but it is understood that Bester vehemently denies any accusations while the club stand by the charges.

Bester will be in charge for tonight's toughie away to Championship leaders Newcastle.
