TITANS can stick a foot in the Championship’s top four door this weekend – which coach Justin Burnell says will be  an astonishing achievement.

A win at in-form Nottingham on Sunday coupled with defeat for London Welsh and Doncaster will see the Clifton Lane men drive into the play-off places, just a week after it looked as though they could be heading for a relegation squabble.

At 16-9 down and with ten minutes to go against Jersey, Titans were starting to look nervously over their shoulders at bottom side Richmond, who had picked up their first win of the campaign the previous night.

But two late tries saw them snatch a 23-16 victory and put Burnell’s side in a positive frame of mind ahead of the trip to Nottingham.

Said Burnell: “It’s amazing isn’t it? But you look at the narrow defeats against London Scottish and Bedford and then start thinking that we should be four points clear now.

“But we are realistic and know it will be tough against Nottingham. It’s still a learning process for us and we’re getting there and the most important thing is that we’re picking the points up.”

Titans’injury worries will ease with news that key man Will Goodwin will be back while the raft of dual-registered Gloucester players are also expected to be available.

Kick off is 3pm.
