Titans begin hunt for new coach

SHELL-shocked Titans will this morning begin the job of finding a replacement for outgoing head coach Lee Blackett — and have already drawn up a short list of several potential replacements.

And the Clifton Lane club are aiming to make a new appointment sooner rather than later.

It was announced last night that Blackett will leave at the end of the current campaign, after two seasons at the helm, to take over as backs coach at ambitious Premiership side Wasps.

The Coventry-based club had been monitoring Blackett for several months before making their initial approach several weeks ago. He will form part of the Wasps' coaching team under rugby director, former Welsh international Dai Young.

Said Blackett: “I felt it was the right move to make.

“It was a difficult conversation to have with the directors at Rotherham after all they've done for me. I was looking forward to the future here but sometimes you get a chance and I had to think about everything and make the right choice."

The Titans' Championship campaign continues at Moseley tonight (7.30pm).
