Titans battered in final game

RED-FACED Rotherham Titans ended their Championship season with an 80-point pounding at Bedford on Saturday.

They shipped a dozen tries in losing 80-19, eclipsing the 75 points Leicester scored against them in the Premiership in the 2003/04 season and the 76 Exeter racked up four years ago.

The result left Andre Bester's side rock bottom of the Championship play-offs' Pool B.

They actually led for a stage in the first half with tries by prop Mark George, scrum-half Matt Rhodes and centre Juan Pablo Socino.

Bedford came back to lead 26-19 at the turn-around and ran in eight tries in a hopelessly one-sided second half.

They now progress to the semi-finals while Rotherham must rebuild for next season.
