Swift in race to be fit

BEN Swift faces a race against time to be fit for the Olympics after a heavy crash in preparation for this week’s big Giro d’Italia.

But fears that the 24-year-old Rotherham ace had broken his shoulder have been allayed.

Swift dislocated the shoulder after crashing on a high-speed corner in the Danish town of Herning, where the Giro started last Saturday, and an MRI scan this week is expected to reveal the extent of the damage.
