Success for synchronised swimmers

THE future is shaping up nicely for an ambitious group of synchronised swimmers.

The girls from South Yorkshire Swans, based at Rotherham Leisure Complex, produced some fantastic results at the Yorkshire Championships at Knottingley.

Their A team won the U19s combination team title while Isla Doneo, who was also part of the team, scooped a silver medal in the solos. The B team just missed out on a team bronze.

Head coach Lisa Hesling said: “We are the only synchronised swimming club in South Yorkshire and we train one hour per week. All the other clubs that we competed against have a minimum of 8-10 hours training per week.

“I think that this needs to be celebrated and promoted to help put synchronised swimming on the map in Rotherham.”

Meanwhile, the Swans did so well they have been invited to the nationals later in the year.

Girls and boys interested in trying synchronised swimming  with the Swans are welcome to a free trial but must be able to swim at least 400m.

Training is on Wednesday nights. For more details ring Lisa Hesling on 07743 238385
