Striker Ani moves on

STRIKER Jeremiah Ani has left Rotherham United after his one-month contract with the club expired.

The Nigerian-born front man initially signed on trial and impressed the Millers coaching staff with an eye-catching performance in the pre-season friendly against Tamworth.

He signed a contract for a month and made his debut in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash with Lincoln City, but has since found it difficult to break into the starting 11.

"We would like to thank Jerry for his efforts whilst with the club," said chief operating officer Paul Douglas.

"He has been a model professional whilst he has been here but due to the return to fitness of Tom Pope and Ryan Taylor the club were not in a position to offer Jerry another deal."
