Shearer raring to go again

GOALKEEPER Scott Shearer can't wait to get going again after the unpredictable British weather stopped Rotherham United in their tracks.

The rain-off at Accrington stalled attempts to bag back-to-back wins for the first time this season and Shearer, who has been in top form of late, was as frustrated as anyone.

He'd signed off on Saturday with a wonder save against Oxford and fancied another three points but, hand on heart and having got drenched in the warm-up at the rain-lashed Crown Ground, he didn't quibble with the referee's decision to postpone.

Shearer told the Advertiser: "It was very frustrating because we went there after a very good win. The spirit was high and we were looking good but the ref had no choice on the night.

"I went out to warm-up at ten to seven and it was throwing it down and me and Andy Warrington knew then there was a half-chance it would keep going.

"These things happen in football. I remember playing for Wycombe once at home to Macclesfield and it was called off five minutes in because of snow.

"It's always annoying. The fans made a big journey up and that costs money. In fact everything costs money and it was disappointing for everyone concerned. All we can do is go back over there next time and get three points then."
