Seaside success for Millers

ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans praised the character of his players after last night's victory at Torquay United.

Goals from Lee Frecklington, Alex Revell and Kayode Odejayi sealed a 3-1 victory at Plainmoor which moved the Millers back up into the play-off frame in League Two.

Goalkeeper Andy Warrington made some good saves to keep the scores level at half time but Rotherham never looked back once Frecklington broke the deadlock one minute into the second period.

Evans said: "I thought it was hard fought. The pitch isn’t the best in the league or suited to good football but you have to work hard. The goalkeeper made two or three saves at important times for us and we could have scored six or seven. It was too end-to-end for me when we were 2-0 up but I'm delighted with the result because it’s a hard place to come.”

Rotherham now turn their attentions to Saturday's derby against Chesterfield, with a crowd of more than 10,000 expected at the New York Stadium.
