Scott strives for consistency

ROTHERHAM United manager Andy Scott says his players are going to have to show better consistency if they are to make a sustained promotion challenge.

The Millers slipped to their second defeat in three games when going down 2-1 to Swindon Town at Don Valley Stadium on Saturday.

Favourable results elsewhere means they are still just four points outside the play-off frame in League Two with 21 games to go, underlining Scott's belief that promotion is still possible.

But, he says, the team is going to have to play to its full potential much more often if that is to be achieved.

He said: "We're still four points outside the play-offs, which is amazing, and we've still got a chance because if it clicks mentally there's no stopping us, I've not doubt about that. But the question that has to be asked at some point is, when is it going to click?

"We see the quality of the players we have got but it's no point showing it in glimpses. Good players at higher levels succeed and win promotions because they are consistent."

The Millers resume their league campaign with another league game, against Port Vale, on Saturday.
