Scott dismayed after latest defeat

ROTHERHAM United fell to a fifth straight defeat at Bristol Rovers last night with manager Andy Scott admitting: “The players should be ashamed of themselves.”

Guy Branston was sent off on his return to the club on loan from Bradford City as the Millers crashed 5-2 at the Memorial Stadium.

They’d battled back from 3-0 down to 3-2 when the experienced centre-half was shown a straight red card for a two-footed challenge early in the second half.

Rovers took advantage to score twice more and leave Scott's men without a win in seven games.

Scott said: “We were 3-0 down in 30 minutes and that cost us. If you don’t start right then you lose games.

“I’m absolutely distraught for the fans who went down. I really feel for them. There’s no excuse for the way we defended again. It’s not acceptable and the players should be ashamed of themselves that we have got to a point where we have lost five goals again.

“Everyone can blame the sending-off and the performance of officials but we gave Bristol three goals.

“It’s just amazing how in the last few games we have worked on the same thing but the players aren’t doing what I’m asking them to do. It’s baffling.”

Scott also handed a debut to left-back Jon Harley, in on loan from Notts County.

Jason Taylor and Danny Schofield scored for Rotherham, with Scott McGleish’s double backed up by further goals from Cian Bolger, Lee Brown and sub Joe Anyinsah for Rovers.
