RUNNING: Damflask delights for Rotherham Running Club

ROTHERHAM Running Club members were out in force in their debut at the Damflask relays in Low Bradfield.

The annual race is a firm favourite for runners, with each carrying the baton for 3.5 miles around the picturesque reservoir. RRC fielded an impressive nine relay teams comprising 29 runners. 

In the men’s teams, Graham Dodd, Neil Grocutt, Gavin Edley and Andy Pidcock, in his club debut, finished 64th in an overall time of 1:40.07. Nick Brown, Matthew Hamer, Aaron Greenwood and Daniel Atkinson came in 7th in 1:47.34. Dave Allemby, Stuart Frith, Richard Millns and Paul Greenwood came in 93rd in 2:02.02.

In the ladies teams, Samantha Cotton took off to a flying start, passing onto Sandra Ford and Louise Siddall. The team finished 41st place in 1:23.45. Jessica Dodds, Gemma Johnson and Honor Hamshaw came in 47th in 1:25.48.

Laura Mann, Alicea Ledger and Maria Toumazou came in 58 th in 1:30.17. Angela Wright, Claire Chapman and Sarah Millns were 60th in 1:30:31. Louise Taylor, Nadine Allott and Laura Mann came 71st in 1:34.36 and Natalie Lowe, Vicki Beckitt and Ania Omafuayire 79th in 1:37.47.

Continuing RRC’s aqua theme at KMR’s fourth race Ulley Res, Graham Dodd led the team home in 36.37. A brutal fall towards the end couldn’t stop Samantha Cotton from finishing second female in 37.55.

Honor Hamshaw finished in 44.34, followed by Sarah Millns in 44.51, Andrew Ansell in 48.50 and Natalie Lowe in 50.43.

Six runners participated in the Three Lakes Classic 14-mile trail race around Rother Valley, Treeton Dyke and Waverley. In tough conditions, Graham Dodd led the way finishing in a respectable 25th in 1:43.54, followed by Neil White 55th in 156:08, Paul Greenwood 64 th in 2:02.10, Sarah Millns 105 th in 2:15.44, Honor Hamshaw 118 th in 2:21.39 and Jessica Dodds 120th in 2:21.42.

Over at Penistone 10K, there was success for both Dave Allemby, who was the first vet 65 male runner, finishing in 52.36, and Adelle Marsden, first vet 45 female in 45.11. 

The Greenwoods, father and son duo, Paul and Aaron, represented RRC at Outibridge Chase 6K. Paul timed 30:00 and Aaron, competing in his first race for the club, finished in 34.07.
