RUNNING: Colin Earl shines in Solway Marathon, secures London Marathon entry

COLIN EARL put the disappointment of missing the Edinburgh Marathon due to illness behind him by heading off to Cumbria for the Solway Marathon.

ln tough windy conditions, Colin posted a terrific time of 3:23.06, taking 13th position and the MV60 prize.

The time was enough to gain him automatic entry to the London Marathon.

Tom Hardman was the first Kimberworth Strider home in the Ulley Reservoir Race, which is part of the KMR Race Series and involves the Striders themselves, Rotherham Harriers and Maltby Running Club, with involvement from Rotherham Running Club.

After grabbing 15th place in the 5.3 mile hilly Handsworth Hobble in 40.41, he completed the testing 4.5-mile course in difficult underfoot conditions in 33.48, which was enough for seventh spot.

Kevin Doyle was next in 34.47, just holding off the challenge of MV60 prize winner Colin Earl, who clocked 34.55.

In the warm conditions Lee Weatherall followed in 38.45.

Rebecca Larkin was the first female Strider to cross in 41.30.

Adrian Holyhead (43.51) was next to finish.

Rebecca Stocks posted 49.51 ahead of Tina Medlock (50.45), Tina Bell (58.14) and John Fuller (58.27).

ln the Oughtibridge Chase, Shaun Wright grabbed seventh place in 24.12 on a tough 6K course with 180m of ascent.

Tina Medlock finished in 37.16.

Two Striders finished in the top ten at the Midsummer Dash at High Green in Sheffield.

On the usual very tough undulating off-road course, Shaun Wright clocked 34.03 to claim fifth spot.

Kevin Doyle grabbed ninth place in 35.49.

Johnathon Griffin continued his excellent progress and was next to finish in 42.36, edging out Brian Miranda (43.50).

Joanne Rooney bagged the FV50 prize in 45.36, just ahead of her husband Pat (45.37).

David Stocks was next in 47.21.

Darren Pryce (50.25) and Carl Jenkinson (54.36) followed ahead of Nicola Smith (56.23) and Graham Platts (57.01). To her credit, Janet Clark battled on after a nasty fall to complete the course in pain in 58.53.
