Rotherham Titans set for battle with league leaders

ROTHERHAM Titans are primed and ready for their biggest match of the season so far this weekend.

They take on Fylde, the National Two North leaders, at Clifton Lane tomorrow in the section’s match of the day.

Titans are third in the table, four points behind the unbeaten visitors from Lancashire, and both teams have designs on finishing as champions and claiming the solitary promotion spot.

Head coach Adam Byron said: “When we looked at our schedule and after the first block of five games, this was one we targeted.

“We knew it was going to be a real test and it’s followed by another one next week when we have Sedgley Park, who are in second place, away from home.

“We know what we have in front of us but we have been building for this and we’re looking forward to it.

“It’s a match to get your teeth into.”

Fylde have won five from five so far and Titans have done their homework on them.

“Fylde have 25 points from 25, so not only have they been winning, they've been scoring tries,” added Byron.

“From the footage I have watched, they are very much a complete team. They can score through the forwards and they can score through the backs, and particularly the back three.

“They're an exciting team to watch — a dangerous, attacking team — so it will be a really good test for us."

Kick-off is 2pm.
