Ronnie's delight as Ian signs

RONNIE Moore and his son Ian revived their football partnership this week, with the Millers boss promising no preferential treatment for his latest signing.

Thomas-Moore joined the Millers from Tranmere Rovers for an undisclosed fee on Wednesday, penning an 18-month deal.

The move brings the 34-year-old striker together with his dad for the second time, the two having previously worked together when Ronnie was in charge at Tranmere.

And while confident he's signed a player who will bring extra quality, Moore stressed that his son would have to prove his worth just as much—if not more—than any other player in the squad.

Ronnie told the Advertiser: "There will be one or two lads here who will take the mickey,  saying 'shhhh, the gaffer's\!q lad's in here, it'll get back to the boss.'

"Ian had that at Tranmere but he copes with that and it's not a problem. He's 34 now and if he doesn't know how to deal with it now then he never will.

"It's not a problem to me. If anything, (playing for me) makes it harder for him because you tend to be stronger and expect more because he's yours and you brought him here."

The striker has already netted nine times for Rovers this season and found the net 15 times last season.

It's that goal-scoring touch, allied to his versatility, that prompted Ronnie to move for him as he attempts to add extra punch to the Millers' attack.

Ronnie added: "I don't want to put too much pressure on him but he's got pace, good ability and good knowledge, and he gets a goal and can play in a number of positions.

"He can play wide left or straight down the middle with Alfie or Ryan or in the pocket behind, so he brings us a lot of options which you need at this level."

Ian is set to make his debut at home to Stockport County this weekend.
