Revell is aiming higher

FORGET finishing third. Alex Revell has his eye on runners-up spot for Rotherham United.

During the days when his team were playing catch-up, manager Steve Evans got one or two funny looks when he insisted long-time front runners Gillingham and Port Vale were catchable.

The Gills are home and dry but the Millers have slowly reeled in Vale and could nick second spot if they beat Aldershot tomorrow and Tom Pope and Co, as good as promoted, are held at Wycombe.

And that, says Revell, would be just reward for the way the team has cured cast aside its inconsistencies and stuck to the task.

Speaking to the Advertiser, he said: "We want to finish second and by the end of the game the only way to know for sure that you're up is to win we'll be doing everything we can to try and do that.

"If we can carry on the way we have been playing with that togetherness we've had, it will be a great end.

"We've discovered what it takes at the moment and I don't think anyone would have seen us going to Bradford and Plymouth and winning."
