Redfearn ponders up to five new faces

MANAGER Neil Redfearn admits as many as five new faces are needed to inject new life into the Millers.

Since taking charge last month, Redfearn has made only one signing, bringing in defender Harry Toffolo on loan from Norwich City.

He now wants to press on by securing two younger players from the Premier League on loan in time for the weekend and that’s just the start. As many as three trialists are expected to be on board next week.

Redfearn said: “There is a core to work with here but we're light as regards what we need. We're addressing the problems as we go and some may be going out.

“With these Premier League lads, one is an attacking midfield player and the other is a forward and it is just a case of whether the clubs concerned are willing to give us the green light.

“We're not just looking at two, we're looking at more than that. We have two or three people coming in on trial next week with Championship quality and experience and that will make a big difference.”

Meanwhile, striker Matt Derbyshire is pushing for a return for tomorrow's home game with Ipswich having sat out the last two through injury.
