Redfearn identifies his targets

ROTHERHAM United have already marked out the men they need to boost their Championship survival fight as the January transfer window comes into view.

Manager Neil Redfearn wants to beef up a squad which has been thinned out by injuries and plans have been laid out in meetings with the club's technical board.

The Millers go to Blackburn Rovers tonight with fitness doubts hanging over Farrend Rawson, Danny Ward and Stephen Kelly.

But Redfearn is also looking at the bigger picture and shaping a group of players fit for a crucial second half of the season.

Recruitment is massive in football,” he told the Advertiser. “When a new manager comes in he wants to bring in players and I'm no different. I don't want to discuss which positions but we've identified where we want to strengthen and the people we want to talk to.

“The gap between the end of the last transfer window to January is quite tough with a lot of games in between and if you haven't got a big squad then it starts to tell.

“The lads here have done well so far but they need help."

Rotherham could climb out of the bottom three with a draw tonight.
