Redfearn calls for more fight

MILLERS boss Neil Redfearn has issued a battle cry ahead of tomorrow’s big Yorkshire derby with Hull City, saying: “If the fans were upset after the Huddersfield game, times it by ten because I was distraught.”

Redfearn says that fight and desire are the minimum requirements and he expects fans to see those qualities in force when his side entertain the promotion-chasing Tigers at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

After defeats at Blackburn and then Huddersfield, Rotherham are now four points adrift of safety and Redfearn says that the standards of the last two games aren’t good enough.

He said: “The fans need to know that I don’t think that’s acceptable, we’ve got to respect Rotherham United’s badge, respect the shirt and do more for our supporters.

“By and large, northern supporters are very similar. If they see you battling and having a go then they will forgive you – but we’ve got to show that, we cannot drop below that. That’s the bare minimum.”
