Pyramid gets the thumbs-up

CLUBS have voted unanimously for a new pyramid system for local cricket — and officals say it's the dawn of an exciting new era for the game.

News that the South Yorkshire Senior League will expand by bringing the former Alliance clubs on board for next season has been followed by the acceptance of a proposal to integrate their top clubs into a new-look Yorkshire League.

It means the five local Yorkshire League clubs will join the top five from next year's SYSL Premier Division and Lincolnshire sides Appleby Frodingham and Cleethorpes in the new set-up, which will start in 2016.

The thumbs-up was given by 50 SYSL clubs and chief executive Terry Bentham says it's great news for cricket.
