PREVIEW: Millers monitor fitness for cup clash

ROTHERHAM United will run fitness checks on Joe Mattock and Lee Frecklington ahead of tonight's League Cup first round tie at home to Morecambe.

Frecklington (calf) and Mattock (knee) both came off in the second half of Saturday's draw with Wolves and are considered doubtful. Long-term injury absentees Aimen Belaid and Joe Newell also miss out.

Morecambe started their League Two campaign with a 2-0 defeat at Grimsby on Saturday. They include ex-Miller Kevin Ellison, now 37, in their ranks. He has scored against Rotherham in the last two meetings between the clubs and will be hoping to keep his purple patch going tonight.

The Millers have knocked out lower-league opposition in Fleetwood and Cambridge at the same stage of the competition in the last two years and even if manager Alan Stubbs does make changes, they will be favourites to progress again.

Kick-off is 7.45pm.
