Plans unveiled for cricket revamp

ROTHERHAM Town are to discuss plans to revolutionise league cricket in Yorkshire before voicing their opinions.

Plans were unveiled this week to amalgamate all of the senior leagues in the county, possibly by 2015.

If it goes ahead then Yorkshire League clubs like Town will form part of a new ECB Yorkshire League with two regionalised divisions. It is expected that Rotherham’s top South Yorkshire Senior League sides  —Treeton, Wickersley, Whiston Parish Church and possibly Aston Hall and Wath — will step up alongside Town, Doncaster, Sheffield Collegiate, Sheffield United and Barnsley and in what will be a mouthwatering structure.

The Clifton Lane side remain non-committal as they wait to discuss the matter in-house.

Said senior official David Mace: “It’s still embryonic and we will be discussing the proposals internally.
