Onwards and upwards for Toseland

JAMES TOSELAND may not have bounced back from injury with a bang but the Kiveton race-ace insists his Silverstone return shows he's back to full throttle in his 2011 World Superbike campaign.

Ongoing wrist trouble has kept the two-time World Superbike Champion on the sidelines for the majority of the season, meaning Toseland has only been able to don his BMW Motorrad Italia racing attire once since the opening WSB round in Australia.

On that occasion, in Utah, USA, the 30-year-old re-aggravated his wrist problem during a disappointing 15th place finish, and although a comeback earlier this month in Czech Republic had been mooted - Toseland was desperate to make sure he was fit for his home country round.

And although Toseland didn't take the Northamptonshire circuit by storm on Sunday, he did end up back in the paddock with a 12th, a 13th, a wrist in one piece and a sense of relief that his World Superbike career is, quite literally, back on track.

"I had always planned to try and get back for Silverstone," said Toseland.

"It's my home race so you always want to be here, and try to do well here.

"It's always special to come here to the new layout and that was the extra motivation I needed while I was doing my rehab to get back on the bike.

"The track and the facilities are absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere is always amazing, all of the British riders want to be here and do well here.

"But that's one of the most frustrating things about being injured, of course physically you're not ready but you get rusty as well by not spending any time on a bike.

"But now I am, and things will only improve from here on in."
