ROTHERHAM United are waiting on the fitness of striker Daniel Nardiello ahead of  the friendly against Middlesbrough at the New York Stadium tomorrow.

Last season's top scorer hobbled off with a hamstring injury late on in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town and will be fully assessed today.

Speaking after the game, assistant manager Paul Raynor said: "Obviously it is a concern when a player goes down clutching his hamstring but we will know better when it settles down and (physio) Denis Circuit has had a good look at it."

Raynor identified positives and negatives from the first loss of pre-season.

After a promising first half, the Millers made nine changes for the second period and faded away as substitute Martin Paterson swooped to score the only goal of the game two minutes from time.

Raynor said: "It was a good workout. The first half was pleasing because there were some good individual performances and it was a good team performance.

"We were not so pleased with our second half because we like to dictate the play and didn't really do that. I thought we stepped off the gas a little bit and allowed Huddersfield to play at their tempo and they kept the ball better than we did."

Lee Frecklington sat out the match after picking up a knock in training on Friday while Richard Brindley (knee) is expected to make a quick recovery.
