Motorists urged to go green with free driving course

MOTORISTS in Rotherham are being encouraged to take advantage of a free advanced driving course and enjoy a greener, safer future on the roads.

Green transport specialists Inmotion! are hosting a series of Eco-Safe Driving sessions at the Lifewise Centre, Hellaby, on Saturday (10) and October 18.

Drivers who attend the sessions could reduce fuel usage by up to ten per cent, saving up to £200-per-year on fuel and car maintenance, as well as improving driver safety, reducing collision rates and helping the local environment.

Lynne Wallis, a South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Community Support Officer from Mexborough, and John Greaves, a Senior Librarian Assistant from Rotherham, took part in the Eco-Safe Driving programme last month.

Lynne said: “I really enjoyed the course and learned a lot of useful information which I am trying to implement already.

“I was amazed at the improvement in my miles per gallon figures after instruction and would definitely recommend the course to others.

“Thanks to my instructor, it was a brilliant Sunday morning."

John added: "The instructor was excellent and informative throughout.

“These sessions are really beneficial, especially to drivers who have been driving for many years.

“Technology is moving so quickly, it is all too easy not to get the very best from a vehicle which in turn can be costly to both the driver and the environment."
