Moore ponders changes for cup clash

ROTHERHAM United manager Ronnie Moore will make changes for tomorrow's FA Cup tie against York City as he looks to halt the recent slide.

Having seen his side drop off the promotion pace in League Two in the last three games, Moore is considering tweaking his personnel and his playing formation.

That could mean a switch to a 4-3-3 set-up against non-leaguers City and a chance for fringe players to force their way into the starting 11.

Marcus Marshall, Paul Warne and Tom Elliott are pushing for a places up front while home-grown favourites Stephen Brogan and Jamie Green are eager to get back involved.

Moore said: "There will be one or two changes and I'm also looking at changing the way we play.

"

A new system would give players who have not been involved the opportunity to play and give others the chance to get their confidence back.

"I don't want to weaken the side because we want to go as far as we can in the FA Cup.

"A third round tie at somewhere like Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea or Manchester United would be great for the chairman, the players and the fans and the financial clout you get from it is fantastic."

Tomorrow's game is followed by a home date against League One high-flyers Huddersfield Town in the third round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Moore confirmed that deputy goalkeeper Jamie Annerson would start in that game, as he has in previous rounds, and other changes would also be made but without jeopardising the chances of progressing.
