Millers warned against complacency

ROTHERHAM United are being warned against taking struggling Bolton Wanderers lightly in today’s Championship basement battle at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The rock-bottom visitors haven’t won for three months and the cash-strapped club has been struggling to pay the wages.

It’s a chance for Neil Redfearn’s men to collect three points and finally climb out of the bottom three but the Millers chief, who started his playing career with Bolton, stresses that it is by no means a foregone conclusion.

“This isn’t going to be easy,” he said. “There is no game you can bank on and if you go in with that attitude in this division then you will come undone. We will give Bolton the respect they deserve. Whatever is going off there off the field, they’re still producing good performances and have not been far off getting results in a lot of games.”

Redfearn will ask for the same application and quality that did for Hull City last weekend. The 2-0 victory was the Millers’ third in six games and they’re eighth in the form table ahead of a festive run that includes meetings with Fulham on Tuesday and Preston next Saturday.

He added: “We are in the middle of a good run of form because prior to losing at Huddersfield we ran Wolves close and did well enough at Blackburn to earn a point. We were outstanding against Hull but we’ve got to keep getting the best out  of ourselves.

“We’ve not got to look at the side we are playing, we’ve got to look at the  points available and try and get them out of every game we play.”

Defender Stephen Kelly (calf) misses out but Leon Best is back available from injury. Kick-off is 3pm.
