Millers transfer latest: Williams goes as search continues

STRIKER Brett Williams has returned to Reading as Millers supporters wait for news of new signings during the countdown to the closure of the January transfer window.

Despite making only a limited number of appearances in his extended loan spell, scoring twice, Williams made a good impression but manager Andy Scott didn't think he was putting enough pressure on first choice pair Lewis Grabban and Alex Revell.

He said: "I spoke to Brian (McDermott, Reading manager) and obviously Brett's situation was that he was mainly featuring from the bench, and from our point of view we needed someone who was going to push our front two a bit more."

Scott is now working to bring in reinforcements before tonight's 11pm deadline, with another striker high on his list of priorities.
