Millers to unveil stadium name

ROTHERHAM United are to reveal the name of their new stadium next week.

World Cup final referee Howard Webb will make the announcement at the Guest and Chrimes site on Monday, ending months of speculation.

The Waterfront, The Foundry, New York Stadium and another title with a lighting theme are all understood to be possibilities for the 12,000-seater, £20 million complex due to open next July.

Head of commercial Steve Lewis said: "It will be a bit of an early Christmas present for our faithful supporters and it is fitting that Howard, a fan and friend of the club, makes the announcement."

Sticking with tradition, the Millers have decided not to sell the naming rights, meaning the title will not be prefixed by a sponsor's name.

Chairman Tony Stewart confirmed yesterday that the construction work is going to schedule.
