Millers to mark International Women's Day

ROTHERHAM United are marking International Women’s Day with a host of activities at next Tuesday's home game with Middlesbrough.

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and has been observed since in the early 1900's.

With an ever expanding audience of women attending Millers matches, the club’s Community Sports Trust has been working hard in recent years to continue the upward trend in female participation and attendance.

At the game with Middlesbrough, the club’s special guests will include female participants from the Trust’s Boot Camp sessions, set up primarily to give women the opportunity to take part in what has been traditionally male dominated areas of sport and exercise.

The Boot Camps have proved tremendously popular and are now running weekly in Blackburn, Eastwood and Thornhill, with over 50 women attending from all different backgrounds.

The club will also be highlighting its commitment to using both ball boy and ball girls at home games.

The youngsters keeping the match balls in circulation against Middlesbrough will be from the Millers' Academy teams and Rotherham United Brinsworth Whitehill Girls.
