Millers stung by Bees

ROTHERHAM United slipped to 2-0 defeat to Barnet at the New York Stadium this afternoon.

A goal in each half from Jake Hyde and substitute Andy Yiadom proved decisive as the Millers were punished for failing to turn pressure into goals.

The visitors, skippered by player manager Edgar Davids, took the lead on 21 minutes when leading scorer Hyde latched onto a ball over the top and with goalkeeper Andy Warrington racing off his line, lobbed in from an angle.

Mark Bradley cleared off the line from Andy Iro to stave off a second goal and Rotherham went closest in first-half stoppage time when both skipper Ian Sharps and on-loan striker Adam Morgan were denied by last ditch blocks.

Manager Steve Evans brought on Daniel Nardiello, new loan signing Danny Kearns and Alex Revell to try and force an equaliser in the second half but the Millers continued to labour and the contest was settled when Ricky Holmes teed up Yiadom to steer in eight minutes from time.

It was the Millers’ fourth home league defeat in the last five.
