Millers' player search continues

ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans is pressing ahead with his summer recruitment push, with at least four more newcomers on the radar.

Goalkeeper Scott Shearer became the fifth new signing of the close season at the end of last week, joining forwards Daniel Nardiello and Kayode Odejayi and defenders Nicky Hunt Ian Sharps in signing for the New York Stadium-bound Millers.

Evans is closing in on his desired squad of 22 for next season and is still on the hunt for a striker, a left-back, a winger and a central midfielder.

He thought he had ticked a couple of those off yesterday when he got close to capturing a wide man and a midfielder, only for both deals to break down, the former due to personal terms.

Evans said: "The winger is someone who I still like as a player, someone I thought we could develop, but it wasn't to be.

"Communications might resume with the central midfielder but at this minute in time that deal is off too."
