Millers get on with the job

ROTHERHAM United and manager Steve Evans are pulling out the stops to make sure the disruption from his stadium ban is kept to a minimum.

With the Millers chief ordered by the FA to stay away from the next six matches for his part in the bad-tempered clash between his old club Crawley and Bradford City six months ago, the club is working out how best to deal with the fallout from the incident.

Efforts are being made to set up an internet TV feed so Evans can watch the matches live, starting with the home games against Torquay tomorrow and Rochdale on Tuesday.

The matchday routine between manager and players will also remain as normal as possible, with assistant boss Paul Raynor taking the reins in the final hours before kick-off.

Evans told the Advertiser that it would be "purgatory" not to be in the dugout but stressed that they were doing all they could to make sure the team's preparations were as thorough as usual.

He said: "We are trying to arrange to get the matches screened live to me at home and we should know more about that later today, but as things stand I will be going to Wimbledon tomorrow to check on Rochdale.

"I'll be with the team until lunchtime. We'll have our pre-match meal as normal and chat about the game and finalise our tactics and then I'll be in a fast car.

"Minute by minute, I will know what is going on during the game. It will be business as normal for Paul Raynor and the rest of the staff. Paul knows what he is doing and as during all matches, he will be able to see the changes that need making."

Evans has said he was "very disappointed" by the FA's decision but stressed it had made him more determined to bring success to the club.
