Millers close in on striker

MILLERS manager Steve Evans is ready to break the club's transfer record to bring in Scottish striker Stevie May.

At the time of writing, he was awaiting a response on two six-figure bids, one with an English club and the other with St. Johnstone for May, which will be a new club record.

May has scored 11 goals in 18 games this term in the SPL.

Rotherham have also been linked with Barnsley forward Chris Dagnall and Nicky Adams from Evans' former club, Crawley.

But the Millers chief has ruled out interest in Cheltenham Town's Ashley Vincent and Inverness forward Billy McKay, having taken Wigan Athletic forward Nouha Dicko on loan until January this week in the wake of Daniel Nardiello's loan to Bury.

Evans admitted he had had two enquries for Ben Pringle. The midfielder has been linked with Reading, where manager Nigel Adkins would neither confirm – nor deny – an interest when questioned on the matter this week.

The Millers chase a fourth straight win at home to Carlisle United tomorrow.
