Millers close in on Becchio

MILLERS manager Neil Redfearn is closing in on two more signings as striker Luciano Becchio inches towards a return to the club.

A midfielder and a forward are in Redfearn's sights while Becchio continues to impress on a two-week trial and is pushing his case for a deal.

Released by Norwich last summer, the 32-year-old is looking for a fresh start. He travelled with the team to Leeds last week in a Millers tracksuit.

Becchio had a short but promising loan spell with Rotherham last season before a heel injury cut short his stay and, although he has been carrying another knock, Redfearn knows what the Argentinean is capable of from his goals-littered time at Elland Road and believes he can still do a job in the  Championship.

“To be fair to the lad, he's looked after himself,” the Millers chief told the Advertiser. “He knows Rotherham and I know him from my time at Leeds and he's looked the same player in training."

Fresh from Tuesday's win over Brighton, the Millers are three points clear of the Championship relegation zone and chase a fourth straight home victory when they entertain QPR tomorrow.
