Millers chief plans changes

ROTHERHAM United are set for a New Year plunge into the transfer market in a bid to get their season back on track.

Changes, especially in defence, are a priority for manager Andy Scott in the January transfer window to stop the flow of goals which have undermined the campaign so far.

He will also be looking to move players out of the club as he attempts to strengthen the squad for a push up League Two in the second half of the season.

Scott said: "January is a big month for us. We need to make changes and I've spoken to the chairman about what I want to do.

"There are players I have brought into this club who have not stepped up to the mark, I hold my hands up to that, but certainly there have been others I've brought in who have set standards that others can't reach. We need everyone at the same standard.

"Defensively we aren't on it at the moment. We need to make changes because we have conceded so many goals, people have obviously not responded to what's been asked of them."

Positioned 11th in League Two, Millers aim to get back to winning ways when they go to lowly Hereford United tomorrow. Marcus Marshall serves a one-match suspension for his sending-off in last weekend's FA Cup defeat at Shrewsbury while Guy Branston is a major doubt with a foot injury sustained in that game. Left-back Jon Harley is back available.
