Millers beaten at Forest

ROTHERHAM United’s attempt to put further distance between themselves and the Championship relegation zone was thwarted at Nottingham Forest.

Goals from Dexter Blackstock, Michail Antonio sentenced the Millers to a 2-0 defeat that leaves them six points above third-bottom Wigan.

They kept Forest at arm’s length for most of the first half until conceding twice in as many minutes just before the break. Blackstock lobbed in the first despite goalkeeper Adam Collin getting a hand to his effort and Antonio then drove forward to power in low and hard from distance.

Rotherham had chances to get back into after the break. Lee Frecklington planted a cushioned effort wide and was unlucky to see his volley hit the inside of a post and bounce to safety. A deflected close-range punt from Connor Sammon forced a fine save going the wrong way from Karl Darlow.

Forest too might have added to their tally through Antonio and Jamaal Lascelles but were content to close out the win that keeps them in with an outside chance of making the play-offs.
