Millers battle to a point

ROTHERHAM United continued their solid run of form with a hard-fought goalless draw at Gillingham tonight.

After weathering a difficult first half, Andy Scott’s men fought back to dominate the second period and looked the most likely side to snatch a winner.

Seeking to end a run of six straight defeats, Gillingham enjoyed the better of the early exchanges, with goalkeeper Rhys Taylor foiling Jo Kuffour and Gavin Tomlin and Jack Evans zipping a shot just wide of the upright.

It was the Millers who went nearest to scoring on 36 minutes though when Danny Harrison’s header hit Lewis Grabban’s hand on its way into the net and was ruled out.

The hosts started the second half well but Rotherham grew in confidence and looked far the more threatening side in the last half-hour, with Sam Wood and Alex Revell both going close and the home goal leading a charmed  life on several occasions.

The draw stretched the Millers’ unbeaten run to four games.
