Millers appoint new vice-chairman

ROTHERHAM United have appointed a new vice-chairman to help take the club into a bright new era.

A director of the football club for the previous four years, Richard Stewart takes up his new position to form a father-and-son partnership with chairman Tony Stewart as the Millers prepare to move into the new 12,000 seater New York Stadium.

Chairman Tony Stewart said: "The new stadium is creating new opportunities for the football club, and to maximise this wonderful opportunity we need to be fully prepared for what will be an exciting new era for Rotherham United.

"Behind the scenes Richard has played a vital role on the operational side of the football club and has been heavily involved in the development of the new stadium. The New York Stadium is not just about a game of football on a Saturday, it is a 24/7 facility which will require a great deal of work and commitment combining the skills and expertise of everyone at the club.

"The stadium is guaranteed to move the club forward so it is important that I can continue to share the responsibility of key decision-making, and that is where Richard and other members of the board will be a factor."

Richard added: "It is an honour to be handed this new responsibility at such an exciting time in Rotherham United's history

"The club is growing day-by-day and when we arrive at New York it is important that we have a developed club with an infrastructure that befits this iconic and modern facility.
