The weather played havoc with fixtures on Saturday and Sunday, with most football, local rugby and running events cancelled.

New 3G pitches allowed Dinnington Town and Kiveton Park to get their matches on, with Town beatinng Hatfield Town 4-3 in the Central Midlands league but Park going down 2-1 to Sheffield Town in the Sheffield Association Cup.

The cold snap is forecast to last until the weekend.

Titans lost 21-16 at Preston Grasshoppers in National Two North after giving themselves too much to do in the second half.

Trailing 18-3 at half time, they fought back with unconverted tries from Danny Rylance and Marcus Payne. Missing regular kicker Lloyd Hayes, Rotherham had Harry Dunne on tee duties.

The centre landed a couple of penalties but the Hoppers led throughout and held off late pressure to close out victory.

It was Titans' third defeat in four games and leaves them sixth in the table as their search for a new head coach continues.

They host Hull Ionians on Saturday (2pm) in their final game of the year.
