Maltby Main to be reimbursed for cancelled Chesterfield fixture

MALTBY Main FC say they won’t be left out of pocket by the postponement of this week’s friendly with Chesterfield.

The Spireites pulled out of Tuesday’s fixture less than an hour before kick-off, with players and officials having already arrived at Muglet Lane.

Maltby have sent Chesterfield an itemised list of incurred costs which the National League club has accepted and is paying back.

Chesterfield also had a warm-up game against Sheffield Wednesday on the same night and had been expected to send a young side to play Maltby.

A Main spokesman said: “The timing (of the call-off) was poor. It caused us problems and there was a lack of communication but Chesterfield were prompt in a reply to us regarding our costs and they are to honour the reimbursement we requested. Thanks to them and that’s the matter now closed.”

Maltby have a friendly away to Cromford and Wirksworth Town, from Matlock, on Saturday and  at home to Stocksbridge PS on Monday (7.45pm). They also have a free date for a home friendly next Thursday, opponents for which will soon be confirmed.
