'Let's get safe' says Joe

IT won't be holiday time, but defender Joe Mattock says playing the final couple of games free of the shadows of relegation will be no bad thing for Rotherham United.

This week's events mean the survival celebrations are on hold, at least until 4.45pm tonight, and the Millers defender admits that’s frustrating.

The players wanted to get the job done against Huddersfield on Tuesday and were disappointed to come in with a draw but the same again at Wolves today will be enough to set up two slightly more relaxing – and welcome – curtain-closers at home to Blackburn Rovers and away to Hull.

Mattock said: “Everyone wanted to get the win and be safe but that's just not the way it works so we just have to carry on doing what we're doing.

“There's no doubt we can get the three points at Wolves, we won't be going there for the draw because we want to be safe and get a bit of relaxation and chill out through the week and not have to be quite so hands on.

“The lads need to get their rest in and recover well and get right.”
